RRB Test Pattern and Syllabus for ALP and Technicians

India: Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts Computer Based Test (CBT) and Computer Based Aptitude Test (AT) for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot While Computer Based Test (CBT) only for the recruitment of Technicians in Indian Railway. In this post, we are providing Pattern and Syllabus for First Stage CBT, Second Stage CBT and Aptitude Test.


Pattern of Test:

1) First Stage CBT consists of one paper of 75 Questions with the duration of One hours which will be screening nature. Candidates are only required to qualified this test with minimum percentage marks with criteria i.e. UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.

2) Shortlisted candidates will be eligible to attend the Second Stage CBT, which consists of one paper of 175 Questions with the duration of 02 hours 30 Minutes which will be divided into two parts. Part-A (Candidate need to Score maximum marks) consists of 100 Questions with the duration of 90 Minutes with minimum percentage marks with criteria i.e. UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25% and score of which will be used for short listing of candidates for further stages of recruitment process if the candidate is securing qualifying mark in Part B. While Part-B (Candidate Only required to Qualify) consists of 75 question with the duration of 60 Minutes with minimum percentage of marks 35% for all candidates.

3) Computer Based Aptitude Test (Only for ALP Post): The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 Marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.

Note: The merit list for ALP will be drawn with 70% weight-age for the marks obtained in the Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weight-age for the marks obtained in Computer Based AT (If candidate qualify in the Aptitude Test).

Syllabus for First Stage CBT:

The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices which will be asked from following topics:

Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

General Science: Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.

General awareness on current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and other subjects of importance.

Syllabus for Second Stage CBT:

This test is divided into two parts and The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices which will be asked from following topics:

Part-A:

Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

Basic Science and Engineering: Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.

General awareness on current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and other subjects of importance.

Part-B:

This section consists of questions from the relevant trade of the candidate.

Syllabus for Computer Based Aptitude Test: The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices which will be asked from following topics:

Test for Measuring your Intelligence: In this test each problem consists of five figures, four of which are similar in a certain way. You are required to find out the one which is different from other four.

Test for Measuring your Depth Perception: In this test you will see a pile of bricks with some bricks numbered A, B, C, etc. Your task is to count the number of bricks that are touching bricks of the pile that has a letter on it. All bricks are of same size and shape.

Test for Measuring your Concentration: This is a test to find out how quickly you can compare two numbers and decide whether or not they are the same.

Test for Measuring your Perceptual Speed: This is a test of how rapidly and accurately you can see objects in order to match them.

Test for Measuring your Personality: This is a test to check your personality.
