Badarpur Thermal Power Station New Delhi
One of the plant of NTPC with Installed Capacity: 705 MW. The Coal is provided from Jharia Coal Fields. Water is provided from Agra Canal. Turbine used is of Russian design which is supplied by BHEL.
History
- 1965 - Setup was Planned by Central Electric Authority (CEA) to supply the Electrical Power for Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
- 1968 - Construction was started.
- 1973 - First unit of 95 MW with indirectly fired boiler was commissioned.
- 1974 - Second unit of 95 MW with indirectly fired boiler was commissioned.
- 1975 - Third unit of 95 MW with indirectly fired boiler was commissioned.
- 1978 - Fourth unit of 210 MW with directly fired boiler was commissioned and Management of the plant was transferred from CEA to NTPC.
- 1981 - Fifth unit of 210 MW with directly fired boiler was commissioned.
- 1987 - Supplying power to Delhi only.
