National Capital Power Station Uttar Pradesh


National Capital Power Station of Uttar Pradesh is one of the plant of NTPC having three types of power station i.e. Coal based power station 1820 MW, gas based power station 817 MW and solar based power station 5 MW with total installed capacity of 2642 MW. Coal to this plant is supplied from Piparwar Mines of Jharkhand state while Gas to this power station is supplied from HBJ ( Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur) Pipe line of GAIL, 3 MMSCMD (Million Metric Standard Cubic Meter Per Day), APM (Administered Pricing Mechanism) Gas and Alternate Fuel HSD (High Speed Diesel). Water to this plant is supplied from Upper Ganga Canal of Mat Branch. Coal based power station provides electrical power to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh While Gas based power station provides electrical power to Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh and Railways. International assistance to coal based power station is provided by IBRD (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development), United States while international assistance to gas based power station is provided by KFW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau "Reconstruction Credit Institute"), Germany.

History

A brief overview about the National Capital Power Station of Uttar Pradesh with coal based power station:
  • 1991 - Commissioned First Unit of 210 MW in the month of October.
  • 1992 - Commissioned Second Unit of 210 MW in the month of December.
  • 1993 - Commissioned Third Unit of 210 MW in the month of March.
  • 1994 - Commissioned Fourth Unit of 210 MW in the month of March.
  • 2010 - Commissioned Fifth Unit of 490 MW in the month of January.
  • 2010 - Commissioned Sixth Unit of 490 MW in the month of July.

A brief overview about the National Capital Power Station of Uttar Pradesh with gas based power station:
  • 1992 - Commissioned First Unit of 130.19 MW in the month of May with Gas Turbine.
  • 1992 - Commissioned Second Unit of 130.19 MW in the month of June with Gas Turbine.
  • 1992 - Commissioned Third Unit of 130.19 MW in the month of August with Gas Turbine.
  • 1992 - Commissioned Fourth Unit of 130.19 MW in the month of December with Gas Turbine.
  • 1996 - Commissioned Fifth Unit of 154.51 MW in the month of August with Steam Turbine.
  • 1997 - Commissioned Sixth Unit of 154.51 MW in the month of April with Steam Turbine.
