Barh Super Thermal Power Station Bihar


Barh Super Thermal Power Station (BSTPS) is one of the power station of NTPC with total five units of two stage. Stage-I of the power station, with a capacity of 1980 MW is commissioned to setup by Technopromexport (TPE), Russia while Stage-II of the power station, with a capacity of 1320 MW is commissioned to setup by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), India. Due some financial issues with TPE, The contract was terminated after 15 years and given to Doosan Power Systems (DPS), United Kingdom. The work at power station is running. The water is supplied to power station from Ganga. The Coal is supplied to the power station from Amrapali block of North Karanpura coal region and coal blocks of Chatti Bariatu and Kerandari of Jharkhand.

History

Year-wise history of BSTPS:
  • 1999 - Place foundation stone of the Stage-I in the month of March.
  • 2003 - Place foundation stone of the Training Center in the month of September.
  • 2006 - Inauguration of the Stage-II is done in the month of May.
  • 2013 - Commissioned First Unit of Stage-II with a capacity of 660 MW in the month of November.
  • 2014 - Termination of Stage-I contract with TPE and given to Doosan Power Systems (DPS), United Kingdom.
  • 2015 - Commissioned Second Unit of Stage-II with a capacity of 660 MW in the month of March.
  • 2016 - Power Generation started at Second unit of Stage-II in the month of March.
