1. (a) What are the essentials of an electronic instrument? and (b) Explain briefly Rectifier type A.C. voltmeter?

2. With the help of a block diagram, describe briefly the working of a successive approximation digital voltmeter.

3. (a) Explain briefly how “inductance” can be measured by using a ‘Maxwell bridge’. (b) In a Kelvin double bridge,there is error due to mistakes between the ratios between outer and inner arm resistances.
The following data related to this bridge: Standard resistance=100.03 ÂµÎ©, inner ratio arms=100.31 Î© and 200 Î©, outer ratio arms= 100.24 Î© and 200 Î©. The resistance of connecting leads from standard to unknown resistor is 680 ÂµÎ©. Calculate the unknown resistances.

4. (a) With the help of neat diagram, describe briefly “Megger”. and (b) Explain the following: i) Arithmetic mean, ii) Deviation from the mean, iii) Average deviation, iv) Standard deviation and v) Limiting errors.
